Banyu Biru
In Indonesia, plastic waste accounts for 18.08% of total waste, making it the second-largest type of waste, while fabric waste contributes around 2.58%. This ongoing issue continues to be a significant challenge for the country. Inspired by this problem, we created a collection that combines two waste materials—discarded denim and used plastic bags—by pressing them into fashion products such as bags and accessories. We named the collection "Banyu Biru," where "Banyu" means water or waste, and "Biru" (blue) symbolizes color or scars. The Banyu Biru collection aims to help reduce plastic and denim waste, particularly in the Bali region.
