A parasite and insertion adaptive reuse strategy for the Dutch colonial era warehouse is a response to creating a positive connection between the warehouse and the creative community. This approach provides Gudang Selatan, which is becoming neglected, with relevant functions and activities, while the creative community benefits from a space with unique characteristics that help in branding value. It also aims to protect Gudang Selatan from damage due to uncontrolled use of the building.While the adaptive reuse approach generally emphasizes preserving existing cultural values with minimal change, whereas Bollack's approach allows for more creative freedom in the preservation process, including the addition of new elements as long as they respect the historical context. Thus, although they share a common goal of preserving heritage, they are not entirely aligned in their approaches and principles.The approach involves the use of lightweight materials and semi-temporary steel structures.
